Frequently asked questions
What is included in a Char Dham helicopter package?
Pickup and drop at Dehradun (Sahastradhara helipad), helicopter sectors between all four Dham helipads, ground transfers, accommodation at the Dehradun bookend hotels, daily breakfast and dinner at Dham guesthouses, and VIP darshan tickets at every temple. Helicopter ride at Kedarnath helipad to the temple shuttle on foot or by pony is also covered for the standard package.
How long is the Char Dham by helicopter yatra?
Five nights / six days from Dehradun. Day 1 is arrival and ground briefing; Days 2-5 are helicopter sectors with same-day darshan at one Dham per day. Day 6 is the return drop at Dehradun.
When is the best time for Char Dham helicopter yatra?
Mid-May to early June (post Akshaya Tritiya temple opening, pre-monsoon) and mid-September to mid-October (post-monsoon, before snow closes the Dhams). Helicopter operations in monsoon (July-August) are unreliable due to clouds and the Char Dham yatra typically pauses then.
Is the Char Dham helicopter yatra suitable for senior pilgrims?
Yes - this is the most senior-friendly format. No long road drives, minimal walking at each Dham, oxygen support at altitude. We recommend pilgrims over 70 carry a doctor's fitness certificate and avoid Kedarnath if there are heart, blood pressure, or breathing concerns - read our medical guide and seniors guide.
How far in advance should I book?
Three to four months ahead for May-June dates, two to three months for September-October. Helicopter slots sell out earliest because seat capacity is regulated. See our booking guide.
Can I book Char Dham by helicopter from Mumbai or Delhi directly?
The helicopter sectors begin and end at Dehradun (Sahastradhara). For ex-city packages including the Delhi or Mumbai inbound flight, see our from-Delhi, from-Mumbai, and other origin city pages.
What is the difference between Standard and Premium helicopter packages?
Both include the same helicopter sectors and VIP darshan. Premium upgrades the Dehradun bookend hotels to 5-star (Madhuban Sarovar Premiere, Lemon Tree Premier or similar) and adds priority check-in, longer Phata helipad ground time, and a dedicated welcome dinner. Standard uses 4-star hotels.
