How do I get to Kedarnath?
Three options: (1) IRCTC helicopter shuttle from Phata, Sersi, or Guptkashi to Kedarnath helipad - ~10 min flight, ~₹6,000-₹13,000 per seat, book direct on heliyatra.irctc.co.in; (2) 16 km trek up from Gaurikund (the road head) - typically split across 2 days with overnight at Garud Chatti or Kedarnath; (3) pony or palanquin from Gaurikund - paid direct at the trail head.
Which package includes Kedarnath darshan?
Every Char Dham package, both Do Dham options, both Ek Dham Kedarnath packages, and the same-day Do Dham helicopter all include Kedarnath. The cards above show all options sorted by from-price.
Is Kedarnath suitable for senior pilgrims?
Helicopter formats yes - same-day Do Dham, multi-day helicopter, or Char Dham helicopter are senior-friendly. Road formats requiring the 16 km trek are not senior-suitable; even the helicopter shuttle from Phata requires walking from Kedarnath helipad to the temple (~500 m, gentle uphill). Pilgrims with cardiac, respiratory, or knee issues should opt for the heli shuttle and avoid the trek.
When is Kedarnath open?
Roughly late April or early May (kapat opening on Akshaya Tritiya) until late October or early November (kapat closing on Bhai Dooj). Specific 2026 dates are announced by the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee in late 2025; we publish them on our temple timings page as soon as confirmed.
What does VIP darshan at Kedarnath mean?
VIP darshan grants priority entry past the regular queue (which can be 4-8 hours during peak season). Sponsored darshan rates are set by the temple committee and start around ₹2,100-₹4,500 per person depending on whether you also want Mahabhishek (sponsored bath of the lingam). Our helicopter packages include VIP darshan; road and Ek Dham packages do not.
Can I do Kedarnath in a single day?
Yes - the same-day Do Dham helicopter charter from Sahastradhara (Dehradun) covers Kedarnath darshan and Badrinath darshan in one daylight day. Standalone Kedarnath same-day is technically possible by chartering, but the Do Dham combo is more popular.
