Royal Enfield expeditions
Ladakh Bike Trip Packages
Four supported motorcycle expeditions on Royal Enfield Himalayans, from a six-night loop out of Leh to ten-night crossings that start in Manali and finish in Srinagar. One of them climbs Umling La, among the highest motorable roads anywhere. These are ridden days on genuinely demanding surfaces at genuinely serious altitude, run with a backup vehicle, a mechanic and oxygen on hand throughout. They suit riders with real experience who want the road, not passengers looking for a novelty.

What does a bike expedition cost?
The operator has not yet issued a rate card for the four motorcycle itineraries, so no price is shown on these pages. We would rather leave the figure blank than publish a number we cannot stand behind. Send an enquiry with your dates and group size and we will come back with a firm quote.
What experience do I need?
Real road experience on a heavy motorcycle, and comfort riding loose surfaces, water crossings and long days. Ladakh is not the place to learn. The passes cross 5,000 m, the weather turns quickly, and help can be hours away. If you have not ridden multi-day mountain routes before, take one of the vehicle-based itineraries instead - you will see the same country and enjoy it more.
What support travels with the group?
A backup vehicle carrying luggage and spares, a mechanic, and oxygen. Accommodation is on a triple-sharing basis generally, with twin rooms for couples. The motorcycle supplied is the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 BS VI.
How high is Ladakh, and will the altitude be a problem?
Leh sits at roughly 3,500 m and the itineraries cross Khardung La at 18,390 ft and Chang La at 5,486 m. Altitude affects most first-time visitors to some degree. Every one of our itineraries builds in a full rest day on arrival in Leh before any sightseeing, and that day is not optional - skipping it is the single most common cause of a ruined trip. Oxygen cylinders are available through the tour (₹800 to ₹1,000 per day plus ₹200 per mask). Anyone with a heart or lung condition should speak to their doctor before booking.
Do I need a permit for Nubra, Pangong or Hanle?
Yes. Inner Line Permits are required for Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, Hanle and Turtuk. We arrange them as part of the package - you need to carry original photo identification. Foreign nationals of certain countries require a Protected Area Permit that must be applied for well in advance, so tell us your nationality at the time of booking rather than on arrival. A Ladakh Ecological Development Fee is also payable.
When is the best time to visit Ladakh?
The season runs roughly April to October, and the exact window differs by itinerary - each package page states its own validity dates. Flight-based packages open earliest, from the beginning of April. The overland routes over Manali and Srinagar depend on the passes being cleared of snow, so they typically start later and the Manali route is the last to open. July and August bring the warmest weather and the busiest hotels; September gives clear skies and thinner crowds.
